Care of the farm and farm animals can be included as work exchange.

Working in the gardens is another work exchange option.

Residency Program

Cost of Residency

All residencies are supported by Fellowships and Work Exchange. There are no fees charged to residents.

Fellowships

The Fellowships Artcroft currently has available are:

  • The Elizabeth Locke Hughes Fellowships for Writers
  • The Florence Thorne Fellowships for Visual Artists
  • The Ed McClanahan Fellowships in Writing

Artists and writers seeking funding for their Artcroft Residency from corporations, foundations, government agencies or private sources are invited to contact Robert Barker, Executive Director, for assistance.

Artcroft is committed to working with cultural organizations and government programs that support creative individuals. We are pleased to have worked with the U.S. State Department’s….(name of program)…, the Kentucky Arts Council, The Montgomery County (KY) Council of Arts, and The Hopewell Museum (Paris, KY). We welcome the opportunity to coordinate with other programs, foundations and funding sources.

Donors wishing to establish Named Fellowships, offer grants or in-kind services in support of the Artcroft Residency Program are encouraged to contact (859) 473-0552.

Work Exchange

For those needing financial support or wishing to lengthen their residency, work exchange at a maximum of 20 hours per week is available. Many residents discover new skills and strengthen existing interests as they work with the animals, in the gardens, helping with construction projects, or even expressing themselves in the kitchen. Some residents have developed new career paths in harmony with their art, based on their experiences at Artcroft.

Our gardens yield fresh, organically grown produce for Artcroft’s kitchen. Artcroft grows additional produce to donate to area shelters.

Opportunities in Community Arts Programming range from offering writer’s workshops, providing art classes for youth, exhibiting work at commercial galleries, and giving poetry or literary readings. When submitting an Application for Residency, please indicate your specific area of interest and provide us with advance notice of the resources you will need to present a Community Arts Programming event.

Developing basic construction skills is yet another work exchange possibility.
